Oxney Organic Rosé 2019

Oxney Organic Rosé 2019

£19.99

A superlative example of an organic rosé, proving that organic wine can be very, very good - raspberries and pear on the nose, fresh and bright, full of joy.

The Oxney Organic Estate is in East Sussex, between Rye and Tenterden, is one of England’s most southerly vineyards and one of the few which is run on organic principles. The soils are of sand and loam over a clay subsoil. The upper levels of the soil are therefore free draining and poor in nutrients whilst the clay below can hold water in the drier months of the year.

The estate covers over 800 acres of land, all of which is farmed organically, set down to woodland, arable, livestock and vines. The vineyard, sitting at 17 meters above sea level and six miles from the English Channel, on a south-west slope stretches out towards a wood with giant oak trees, creating a warm and protected microclimate.

We chose this wine to prove just how good organic wines can be. Oxney consistently produce exceptional wines (their 2018 Chardonnay was described by Matthew Jukes as the most resonant and beautiful English wine he has ever had - unfortunately all gone but that’s the problem with good English wines!) Their still rosé, made with 100% Pinot Noir, continues this tradition, fresh and vibrant, it brings joy in a glass. Full of red berries this is a great wine which will not only bring a smile but also help the environment too!
