Organic wine is in vogue, and we have chosen two of our favourites in our organic duo. The Davenport Horsmonden Dry and the River Cottage Sparkling Wine.

The Davenport Vineyard has been established since 1991 and continue to produce superb wines, with their vines maturing nicely. The Horsmonden Dry is an unique dry white blend from many different varieties with layers of grapefruit, peach, elderflower and honeysuckle. The wine has long been a favourite.

The River Cottage organic wine was made in collaboration with the Oxney vineyard and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingsall. It is a sparkling wine made with a second fermentation in the bottle, aged for a short period of time, with a lower pressure but not disgorged. The result is a lightly sparkling wine, with a slight yeast sediment left in the bottle. The wine has a crisp fresh character, a splash of green apple fruit, bready richness and a foaming mousse.

Both wines show the diversity of organic wines now being produced and, just as importantly, the quality.
