Meet the Vineyards

Wednesday 5th March: Woodchurch Wine Estate - 18:30-20:30

About the Evening

Graham and Donna Barbour's vineyard is situated in the village of Woodchurch, Kent. Their single vineyard wines have won multiple awards, including Gold and Silver Medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards and Silver Medals at the International Wine and Spirit Competition. A former librarian and respected viticulturalist, Graham has a naturally engaging conversational style, and we are delighted to welcome him to share his wines and his story with you as we continue to bring the vineyards to the high street.

Wednesday 9th April: Simpsons Wine Estate - 18:30-20:30

The internationally renowned Simpsons Wine Estate is a near neighbour of ours. Based in Barham, just a short drive from us, we have been thrilled to stock their wines from our outset. Celebrated for their consistent quality, elegance and finesse, Simpsons have a balanced portfolio of sparkling and still wines. They are now in their second decade of production, and still vinifying only their own estate grown grapes for their wines. Production remains top quality and detail focused. The Simpsons story is compelling; this is an excellent opportunity to engage with it in an intimate setting.

Wednesday 7th May: Bewl Water Vineyard - 18:30-20:30

Nestled on a lovely site next to Bewl Water reservoir in East Sussex, this older vineyard was given a transformational new lease of life by new owners some years ago. All the more remarkable that the driving force behind this, who was barely old enough to drink at the time, is now Britain's youngest vineyard manager. This promises to be a fascinating evening, with the rare opportunity to hear directly from this family team.

Wednesday 2nd July: Wayfarer Wines - 18:30-20:30

The enterprising Ashford family set out in viticulture with the explicit aim of making high quality still wines from their vineyards in the Weald of Kent. This is no mean feat in our marginal climate, as still wines require the grapes to be riper than is necessary for sparkling, and that in turns demands more warmth. Wayfarer have certainly succeeded, as attested by the two Gold medals they garnered for their Wandering Bacchus last year.
