Langham Culver Classic Cuvée NV
Langham Culver Classic Cuvée NV
A wine brimming with red apple fruits, a good weight of umami rich, nutty-toastiness and a saline note too. The mousse is gentle and creamy, the finish long and lingering
The Langham vineyard is situated on a broad south facing slope a few miles to the north-east of Dorchester amid the rolling hills of Dorset. It is an exciting venture producing a host of excellent wines, large enough to produce sufficient volume to sustain the business over the coming years but small enough to take a more artisanal approach.
The south facing slope and free draining chalk rich soils provide a good potential terroir. These elements combined with hedges and woodland providing wind breaks deliver a superb micro-climate for growing premium grapes for sparkling wine. Since the estate only uses their own grapes they can take all the viticultural and harvesting decisions to ensure a premium crop of clean, ripe Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier every year.
The Culver, with its Pinot dominance (55% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier, 25% Chardonnay), delivers a wine brimming with red apple fruits, a good weight of umami rich, nutty-toastiness and a saline note too. The mousse is gentle and creamy, the finish long and lingering. This is a classy wine which will be a sipping fizz to alert the senses to its complexity but also have the weight to partner more robust fish dishes, soft cheeses or guinea fowl.
