Chartham Pinot Noir
Chartham Pinot Noir
Fresh, crisp pale red with notes of elderberry and redcherry.
The Chartham Vineyard lies a mere three miles south of Canterbury on a south east facing slope looking over the Stour Valley. The vineyard also overlooks the South Eastern railway line which run between Ashford and Canterbury and the farm in which the vines are grown is called Burnt House Farm, which offers a tasting room and nursery vineyard in the shadow of an ancient barn and dovecote. It is a lovely place to visit, not only for the views, but also for a selection of lovely wine.
We have featured a number of wines from the estate but have not previously offered the 2018 Pinot Noir. The 2017 wine was really ripe with a juicy style of red fruits but the 2018, despite the generosity of the weather, is a lighter, fresher wine. The flavours delivered are red cherry, red plum and a light five spice with gentle tannins and a bright finish.
Food Pairing Ideas: The style of wine makes it a refreshing aperitif, suit lightly spiced dishes or an ideal companion to charcuterie, especially meats like carpaccio, and creamy cheeses.
