Albury Vineyard Blanc de Blancs
Albury Vineyard Blanc de Blancs
A great moussey mouthful, full of lime, nuts and tropical notes cut by a fine freshness, so drinkable!
Albury Vineyard is situated on the southern slopes of the North Downs in the rolling Surrey Hills, just outside Guildford on the A25 towards Dorking. The vines are the traditional Champagne varietals of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, as well as some Seyval and Pinot Gris. The owner, Nick Wenman, planted the vineyard in 2009 and believes that key to the success of the wines is the organic and biodynamic approach to production, excellent viticultural management and good quality winemaking. No pesticides or fungicides have been used at the vineyard since it was set up and the vineyard area has a healthy, diverse eco-system with many different plant, insect, birds and animal species inhabiting the area.
Albury Vineyard produces a range of wines which deliver different styles, from simple easy going to rich dry and complex. The one that stood out for us was the Blanc de Blanc, a blend of Chardonnay and Seyvl Blanc, and it also brings a splash of freshness to this selection. The wine is very pale in appearance with a fresh nose carrying aromas of tropical fruit, creme patisserie, lime and nuts. It is very inviting and leads to a light fresh palate, ideal for any celebratory drink, with a touch of brioche, citrus fruits and long poised finish. Sometimes you just want to enjoy a glad of good quality wine delivering the flavours of summer and they are right here in this reviving wine.
