The Three Counties Sparkling Box

The Three Counties Sparkling Box

£82.00

Three wonderful English wines from 3 different counties showcase a true variety and the best of Surrey, Kent and Sussex. All of these sparkling wines have been carefully selected by our Master of Wine, Clive Barlow for this box.

Albury Blanc De Blancs (Surrey): Albury Vineyard produces a range of wines which deliver different styles, from simple easy going to rich dry and complex. The one that stood out for us was the Blanc de Blancs, a blend of Chardonnay and Seyvl Blanc, and it also brings a splash of freshness to this selection. The wine is very pale in appearance with a fresh nose carrying aromas of tropical fruit, creme patisserie, lime and nuts. It is very inviting and leads to a light fresh palate, ideal for any celebratory drink, with a touch of brioche, citrus fruits and long poised finish. Sometimes you just want to enjoy a glad of good quality wine delivering the flavours of summer and they are right here in this reviving wine.

Ashling Park Cuvée (Sussex): This wine shows how long ageing on the less can enhance the flavours and the integration of the wine. The aromatics display plenty of autolytic characters, biscuit, brioche, plus citrus notes and apple and honey. There is a depth to the aromatics not often found which promises a fulsome palate and long finish. On the palate there is the expected depth but great harmony and a fine mousse. The wine has one of the longest I have experienced in English sparkling wine and it is one of the balanced wines you will find. approach to winemaking. It is a wine to be savoured and sipped and will partner many dishes with its combination of umami and fruit flavours. Try with a rich creamy chicken or guinea fowl dish and experience the wonderful combination of flavours, the wine working to open up the food and the fresh finish of the wine on your palate.

Squerryes 2015 (Kent): This wine reflects the natural energy and purity of their North Downs vineyard, the white chalk seam that sits below our vines acting as nature’s best filter, removing any impurities creating a wine that is very soft and clean with a lovely smooth finish. On the palette it has an abundance of rich, ripe fruit complemented by a hint of brioche and a wonderful, soft mouth feel. A concentrated full flavour wine, with not too much acidity makes it perfect to pair with a meaty white fish, like monkfish; for the cheese lover: a ripe camembert.”
