Corkk is celebrating English Wine Week with an exciting programme of wine tasting events at Whitefrires, from the 17th to the 25th of June.
Sign up below to join one of our wine tasting events held in our marquee at Whitefriars, Canterbury. The tastings offer a chance to meet some of Kent’s and England’s finest vineyards, hear about their history, taste and learn about some of their superb wines. Along with these tasting events, Corkk will also have a bar and bottle shop where wines a can be enjoyed by the glass or bottles bought to savour later at home. We’ll also be serving sparkling wine and Whitstable oysters at the weekends, come and enjoy!

England and Kent has seen a revolution within the agricultural sector, with vineyards being planted at an increasingly rapid rate. In Kent there are now over 100 vineyards, producing many award winning wines, from sparkling wines made in the traditional manner and to still wines, including Bacchus, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay amongst others. We are delighted that we have a wonderful selection of Kentish (and one from Sussex) vineyards who will be running tastings throughout English Wine Week.
A family run small batch vineyard near Wadhurst in East Sussex, whose commitment to the environment is reflected in their membership of WineGB’s Sustainable Wines of Great Britain Scheme, and their wines have received many WineGB Awards.
The Wine Garden of England is a renowned group of vineyards in Kent, including the likes of Simpsons, Gusbourne, Hush Heath, Biddenden, Squerryes, Chapel Down, Westwell and Domaine Evremond. The tasting will include wines from a selection of these vineyards.
Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn planted their first vineyard in 2002 on their Hush Heath Estate in Staplehurst. Their Balfour Brut Rose won a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge in 2004 and the awards have kept coming since.
Conscious of a long history of viticulture in the area, Roz Waller and Richard Goodenough planted to vine on their Chartham site in 2013 and 2014. The quality of their wines gained them two Silver medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2022.
The oldest vineyard in Kent, Biddenden has been owned and managed by the pioneering Barnes family since 1969. Specialising in German grapes, they showcase a range of quality varietals and still carry out all vine work by hand.
Heppington are based near Canterbury, in the hamlet of Upper Hardres, on a site which has been assessed as exceptional for viticulture. Their wines are pure in their expression of fruit and are attracting a strong following.
Yotes Court sits on an exceptional site in Mereworth overlooking the Weald. First planted in 2016, they produce excellent still wines and a very enjoyable early release sparkling.
Founded in 2012 in Barham near Canterbury, Simpsons is internationally renowned for their excellent sparkling and still wines, all vinified on site from their estate grown grapes. They have received a plethora of international awards across their range.
Wayfarer are family growers whose emphasis on quality viticulture has seen them attract a loyal following. With three vineyard sites in Kent, their exclusively still wines continue to go from strength to strength.
Woolton Farm are rapidly growing a reputation for both still and sparkling wines, including an exqusite sparkling Bacchus.
