Clive’s Favourites wines

We asked Clive to select three sparkling wines and three still wines that, over the past year, have really stood out in terms of both value and quality and then we thought “let’s create a case of them” Here the wines below.

Still Wines

Simpsons Pinot Meunier

The Derringstone Pinot Meunier displays chalk purity and sweet and savoury aromas of poached winter fruit. Complex balsamic nuances and red fruit flavours finish with a deliciously creamy mouth-feel. Has been a favourite of our customers too!

Hattingley Valley Chardonnay

The 2020 Hattingley Valley Chardonnay has a light yet persistent scent of cream, lees and lemon with a wonderfully balanced crisp palate of ripe acidity, citrus and green apple notes. The finish is long and lingers on and on gently fading away leaving the palate clean and refreshed.

Oxney Rosé

A superlative example of an organic rosé, proving that organic wine can be very, very good - raspberries and pear on the nose, fresh and bright, full of joy.

Sparkling Wines

Fox and Fox Inspiration pinot gris

This wine really delivers plenty of character and style. It delivers an intensity of aromatics with cream, fresh pastry. Roasted nuts and cooked apple, with some fresh pear too. The palate mirrors the depth of flavour and adds yellow plum, white peach, butterscotch and more. Whilst rich, the wine has a cut of acidity to bring balance and freshness to the umami richness. There is a fine gentle mousse throughout and a long finish.

Herbert Hall brut 2016

The recent winner of the Best Wine in Kent at the Kent Taste awards 2021. With customers including Le Gavroche, The Groucho Club and even HRH The Prince of Wales, we are sure you don’t need too much more encouragement to have a taste of this tempting tipple.

squerryes 2015

The Squerryes Brut 2015 reflects the natural energy and purity of our North Downs vineyard, the white chalk seam that sits below our vines acting as nature’s best filter, removing any impurities creating a wine that is very soft and clean with a lovely smooth finish. On the palette it has an abundance of rich, ripe fruit complemented by a hint of brioche and a wonderful, soft mouth feel.
