Simpsons Vineyard
The Simpsons wine estate is to be found in the beautiful Elham Valley about six miles south east of Canterbury in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the vineyards are located on slopes on both side of this chalk valley. The vineyards were established by Charles and Ruth Simpson in 2013 and the winery was built in 2015. Charles and Ruth are the consummate professionals, truly understanding their craft and exceptional winemakers. Their wines are to be found in many high class restaurants, including The Pig, their Kent restaurant being just down the road from them.
Simpsons had gained knowledge of the wine business in France where they developed an estate called Domaine St Rose in the Languedoc region. They brought their understanding of vines and winemaking to the beautiful valley and have created wines of great precision and purity. They now spend their time between Kent and France, developing their wines.
Initially Charles and Ruth were going to concentrate purely on sparkling wines, but they soon decided to include some still, which have turned our superbly, often winning awards.
The wines we currently sell, and have been going down exceptionally well, are the Railway Hill Rosé 2018, the Pinot Meunier and the Gravel Castle Chardonnay 2019 .
